Dearest Prognosticators,
As you are all well aware, each year we here at BGP Enterprises toil over what colors to pick for the annual 'Ganza T-Shirt. Actually, we don't usually toil that much -- we just pick whatever the Pooh-Bah wants. Although some years input is received from The First Lady (the 2006 Bismarck High School colors), the Pooh-Bah's daughters, and even individual prognosticators (the 2007 tye-die suggested by David Richert).
This year Pooh has a few ideas, one being a forest green with a nice looking text color. Another is purple and gold (or is it yellow?) to cater to the masses of Minnesota Vikings fans in the general area. Who said we're not above schmoozy marketing techniques?
But this being a democratic non-pool, we are asking for your input into what colors the 2008 'Ganza shirt should be. Keep in mind that only the Pooh-Bah has the final vote! But we are not above patronizing you into thinking your comments are valuable!
'Ganza T-Shirts can be ordered here.
Please comment to this post to provide input to this most important decision. We will decide shortly before the tournament games begin.
The Basketball Tournament Prediction Extravaganza is a nationwide prediction competition between basketball fans based upon the Annual Men's College Basketball Tournament. We feel the clean family humor, salty wit and sarcasm, and interesting year-to-year statistics make the 'Ganza, as we affectionately call it, one of the most enjoyable tournament contests on the Internet. We hope you join us and come to the same conclusion.
Although the format is similar to an office "pool," the Extravaganza is NOT a pool -- no prize money is awarded! In fact, our slogan is "This Ain't No Pool!" The prognosticator who scores the most points in the 'Ganza is awarded the Coveted Ostertag Plaque, one of the finest examples of laminated pressboard available and easily the most talked about sports award in my house. The Ostertag Plaque has often been mentioned in the same sentence as the Lombardi Trophy and the Stanley Cup. Especially if you read the previous sentence out loud.

Mid Season Report Card
In late October, prior to the season beginning, Director of Operations Bill Berger posted his preseason top ten in college basketball.
As the teams begin their conference play, we thought it would be a good time to compare how Director Bill is doing in his predictions. Afterall, he is very highly paid and needs to be held accountable for his blog posts...
Coaches/ESPN/USA Today (Jan 14, 2008)
1. N Carolina
2. Memphis
3. Kansas
4. UCLA
5. Duke
6. Georgetown
7. Tennessee
8. Washington St.
9. Texas A&M
10. Indiana
AP (Jan 14, 2008)
1. N Carolina
2. Memphis
3. Kansas
4. UCLA
5. Georgetown
6. Tennessee
7. Duke
8. Washington St
9. Indiana
10. Texas A&M
Director of Ops Bill Berger on 10/26/07:
1. N Carolina (1 AP, 1 ESPN)
2. Memphis (2/2)
3. UCLA (4/4)
4. Louisville (unranked)
5. Michigan St (11/11)
6. Marquette (13/13)
7. Duke (7/5)
8. Texas A&M (10/9)
9. Washington St (8/8)
10. Gonzaga (unranked)
So as you can see, the Director is doing fairly well, having really only missed on Louisville and Gonzaga. He also missed badly on Kansas (3/3), so will earn the appropriate amount of demerits from Pooh.
Watch for more posts as the 'Ganza approaches.
